I couldn't wait any longer! I went online and made a purchase from Colourpop. Colourpop is an American makeup brand that strives to be 'wallet friendly' and 'bunny approved' what a great combo! Plus, the quality pay off in the products is brilliant.
At the time Colourpop were having free international shipping, what a great time to place an order! I tried to order a variety of bits - liquid lipsticks, lippie stixs, highlighters and eyeshadow! I might as well mention that I did order an extra surprise liptsick. But i'll talk more of that later!
So I picked up:
2x Ultra Satin Lips in Echo Park and Frick N' Frack
1x Ultra Matte Lip in Trap
1x Ultra Metallic Lip in Lights Out
5x Lippie Stix in Button, Wet, Tootsi, Lady and a mystery shade that i'll be giving away!
2x Highlighters in Spoon and Flexitarian
1x Eyeshadow in Fringe
The lipsticks have a great lasting power I find that I only need to touch up the liquid lipstick once in the day. The powders are so creamy! I haven't yet got used to using them with makeup brushes because they are thaaaat creamy. But a simple technique of applying the powder makeup with my fingers seems to do the trick!
After having these products a while I've absolutely fallen in love with Echo Park and Flexitarian! These are by far my favourites and I find myself wearing them the most.
I already can't wait to order more in the future. I mean, I really could now but I'm trying to make myself wait that little bit longer. Before I wake up one day to (dare I say it?!) too much makeup!
Have you purchased from Colourpop before?
This year I decided to take part in the #31DaysOfHalloween tag challenge on Instagram. One Thing I had learnt from this challenge almost immediately, was that preparation is key. Sparing every evening for makeup and Halloween themed looks was tough - life happens. I tried my best though! See all my looks over on my Instagram - click here!
One trend you're going to see a lot this year (thanks to the Suicide Squad Movie) is The Joker and Harley Quinn. If you happen to have liquid latex and cotton wool balls about the house - recreating the joker is very simple. Other than that, grab some brightly coloured eye shadows and make your own version of Harley herself!
This look was inspired by this video created by Mykie/GlamandGore. Creating an actual 'cut' crease eye makeup look. This was very simple to recreate - using a normal nude eyeshadow palette, red eyeshadow and black liquid liner. As an option you could add fake blood to the look, I believe Mykie also uses scab blood - obviously that's optional!
Skull themed makeup looks are such a great idea this time of year. You can be as creative as you wish! Varying from life-like skulls, colourful skulls, sugar skulls and more! There's plenty of tutorials around on Youtube or even searching for the tag 'SkullMakeup' on instagram will inspire you even more!
You could even play with other techniques when trying to create your Halloween makeup this year. A while ago I created a 'Broken Doll' look for my Instagram after playing with the contents of a special effects makeup kit my boyfriend had got me. Rigid Collodion is a fab product if used carefully on the skin! It made the cracks in my skin look so real!
Then there's the oh so colourful mermaid looks that I've been noticing all over social media. Fantastic to look at, even easier to recreate yourself! Grab yourself a hair net that you would wear under a wig, pull it right over your face (be careful not to adjust it whilst you're applying the eyeshadow over the skin). Pick the colours you want for your mermaid and with a fluffy makeup brush apply it all over areas of your skin. I opted for a highlighter to really make the colours look like scales. Then gently lift off the hair net and voila! Finish with a pretty lippy and lashes!
I hope these help you with some ideas for Halloween this year! By all means follow me on Instagram! If you require more inspo - just search where I do! Youtube and Instagram tag trends!
The time has drawn closer and you've still not sorted out an outfit for the seasonal Halloween weekend. Let me throw some inspiration your way!
- You'll probably be considering if you can make something out of your wardrobe - saves money, saves time right? Black dress? You can totally transform into a Halloween favourite, a witch. Cute black top, black disco pants/leather look trousers or even black jeans (notice the trend?) Find a pair of black tights that you won't mind sacrificing and make a stuffed tail - voila! You're now a cat. Worst case, opt for the ol' toilet roll and call yourself a mummy!
- I guess you might even consider looking online trying to find something that you could make an outfit on. You don't really want to feel like you've splashed the cash on something that you won't wear again for another year (lets face it, who wears the same costume two years in a row anyway?). So you end up looking for anything that features black. Personally I love ASOS for saving me on my last minute change of mind in terms of outfits. I use their ASOS Premier service for next day delivery.
- You could always visit those shops in the high street that have those classic family Halloween costumes that are possibly not you're first choice in outfits. Settle for what you see? Heck if you're hitting a party a few games of beer pong might help you forget how much you dislike your outfit.
- Get creative with the odd bits you might have around the house. I've always been tempted to show up to a party as a Sim. Far too easy, wear whatever you want then make yourself a Plum Bob* - I've found a tutorial here. *If you don't know what a Plum Bob is - hide away in your room and get yourself onto the Sims.
I hope this post seems useful in some kind of way. I'm really looking forward to see what everyone dresses up as this year. Let's not forget the amount of Harley Quinn's that'll be floating about!

I guess I feel like I owe an explanation as to why my blog has been neglected. No words of a lie, I had no enthusiasm towards it. The most frustrating thing being that I had/have ideas, but such a lack of interest to get my laptop out, jump on the internet and write. It's taken me a while to get this far.
The last couple of months have felt like an emotional roller-coaster. My boyfriend has been a real trooper and kept me sane when I've needed a little sense thrown my way. Alongside my girls too, coffee dates and much needed catch ups. I've had plenty of up's but also a few downs. The most frustrating thing about the downs is that I have no real set reason as to why i'm feeling that way. No one or nothing has particularly made me feel that way. I hate to think that my behaviour then moves on to effect how someone else is feeling. This is why i'm so thankful for my family and friends (sorry for the cheese).
So with my cards on the table, something i'm struggling with quite a bit right now is body image and my general appearance. I'm struggling to be happy with what is in the mirror. There's nothing wrongggg as such (other than shifting a bit of weight would be fab... oh keeping it off too) i'm just simply not happy. I feel like i'm always wearing similar clothes all the time because they're what I find to be the most comfortable and not necessarily what I want to style myself in all the time. Playing it safe with my hair and makeup. If you work with me, catch me on a day off or i'm in the gym (that's obviously when I even make it to the gym on some days) my hair is always tied up in a bun. I would love to be the girl that you catch with lush looking hair that always looks beautifully styled. Same old 'hair in a messy bun' style. Same old same old.
When I've fallen into a 'blip' like this in the past, I usually get through it quite quickly. Maybe this time round it's feeling so different because of other lifestyle changes. It just sucks so much that those lifestyle changes make everything feel a little more crappy.
I know it takes time and effort on my behalf. It's just hard sometimes to find the effort to actually do what I want to do. Like today for example, as i'm writing this post. All I can think about is that this weekend, I wanted to spend a part of my Sunday walking around in my local woods/fields and snapping some autumnal pictures. I didn't. It never happened. It's bummed me out. I know I can't keep feeling sorry for myself and realistically, my boyfriend, friends, family can have an impact in trying to cheer me back up to my usual peppy self, but it's not their responsibility - they can't make it happen. I need to make it happen.
It's a shame, I do enjoy blogging, photography and spending time outside the house in my free time. Even though I haven't really touched base with those ideas and plans for a little while, I need to understand that I just need to do it. Even if it means picking up my camera, going for a walk, but I don't take any photos on the first attempt. Hopefully it means the next time, I will. Feeling mopey in my duvet won't get me anywhere.
I just want to say thank you for the close people to me for picking me up when I need it, also to those of you that have taken the time to read this. I don't really know where I was going with this post, other than just expressing what is sitting on my chest. Thank you.
If you haven't heard of Shannon of Shaaanxo on Youtube - where have you been?! Check out my blog post about her! Click here! Up to date? Perfect - back to the post.
I had been eyeing up this palette for what felt like ages. It's not easily avaliable for the UK. After a little debate, I decided to order the palette through BH Cosmetics directly and just pay the shipping fee to get it to me in the UK.
The palette consists of 9 beautifully pigmented eyeshadows and 9 bright lip colours. If you're stuck for a little makeup inspiration Shannon has created her own makeup looks for the palette on the channel! (I might have already tried these out with the palette! ehehe).
|I tried swatching some of the shades! they feel so creamy and are so pigmented!|
What I love about this palette is (other than the pigmentation and how easy they are to work with) that it's so practical for travelling. So many makeup looks with all the eyeshadows and lipsticks in one sleek and slim palette! So far i've mainly used the shadows in the palette. I'm absolutely in love with the duo-chrome colours and the lightest shimmery shade (perfect for highlighing on my fair skin tone!) You could definitely create an eye makeup look for daytime and easily carry it over to night time with this palette too.
Have you tried this palette or any other BH Cosmetic collaboration products? I wish it was a little more accessible for the UK! That would be the makeup junkie in me talking though!
