We're all pretty much aware that moisturising is key in your daily skin routine. Drugstore or high-end it's something you should never forget to do! I know ladies, those nights we get home and 'forget' to remove our makeup after a long day of wearing it means we might forget to cleanse and moisturise - more the reason to make sure your moisturiser is a gooden!
There are typically 5 different skin type groups: Normal, Dry, Oily, Combination and Sensitive. If you use the wrong type of moisturiser (generally any product on your face) you could possibly be doing your skin no favours.
What to look out for? *
Normal - An even skin tone with no flaking or sheen.
Dry - Your skin is often itchy, red, flaky, or generally tight.
Oily - Large pores and a sheen that develops quickly after you’ve cleansed.
Combination - An oily T-zone (that’s your forehead, nose, and chin) alongside drier skin on the cheeks.
Sensitive - You’re often prone to acne or other skin irritations.
I find there are some particular brands that I've tried in the past that have a good variety of products for different skin types. Brands like La Roche Posay which is easily found in Boots or online. It's a little pricier than some moisturisers, but isn't quite like a high-end price tag.
An old friend of mine messaged me on my Facebook page "I need some help! I need a good face moisturiser as I've tried a day one and a night one and it's not working! I seem to have like a dry patch on my face and exfoliating hasn't touched it/ worked"
I'm by no means an expert in skin care, but I can certainly advise on my own experiences. I find La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche worked wonders on my skin when I had some nasty dry bumpy skin appear on my forehead and cheeks. It was a nightmare, no other moisturiser I was using would soak into my skin. I purchased this on a whim and was so pleasantly surprised it worked. I would apply it fairly thick when I was about to go to bed, then a lot lighter in the morning with plenty of time to soak in before applying makeup.
I also suggest that you don't over exfoliate, otherwise that could upset your skin too. Avoid using exfoliates that have those little beads in. Maybe give your skin a break and exfoliate once a week? I also recommend having no makeup days as much as you can if you aren't planning to go anywhere on your days off from work.
I really hope this helps for my friend and anyone else who is interested in skin care!

Ever wondered about where you would want to go for a little getaway break? It's even more of a wonder when my boyfriend surprises me with red roses and tells me that he booked us a nights stay at an old B&B in the countryside to celebrate our anniversary.
We stayed at The Brocket Arms in Hertfordshire. A beautiful 14th century country inn - "The bars and restaurant with their low ceilings, oak beams and inglenook fireplaces are full of character, where guests can enjoy delicious, seasonal, good quality food, together with a wide range of real ales and wines."
One thing I particularly liked about our room on our stay was this little comment book - which I can only assume there is one kept in every room. Previous guests have dated their stay and noted their thoughts. I loved reading the previous pages, along with our perspective they were all enjoying their stay. A few people meeting The Brocket Arms for the first time and a few on a returning visit.
I'm a sucker for romance, so I apologise if this post is a little lovey-dovey aha! Even though it was a night's stay at The Brocket Arms, it was perfect being able to really enjoy each others company 'out of town' before getting back to reality.
I would really recommend this place for a stay for yourself. Be it with a partner, a few friends and even your family! ♥ You can also read the other reviews here - Click
So I stumbled across this brand a few months back whilst browsing FeelUnique. I was searching for some form of hair care for my bleached hair and came across a product that I've previously blogged about before - 'My current hair care favourites' - click to read! I was so impressed after repurchasing that product over and over that I got in contact with someone from OSMO who kindly sent me these goodies to try out and review!
Extreme Volume Thickening Creme - "Lightweight thickening crème formulated to add instant volume and texture during the styling process." Whilst my hair is still a little damp, I massage a small amount of this creme into my roots making sure it's truly smoothed in all over before I dry my hair with my hairdryer. I love the lift it gives my hair at the roots, there's nothing worse than it being left flat!
Extreme Volume Mega Styling Foam - "A lightweight styling foam for mega volume and textured hold whatever your hair type. With UV and thermal protectors, this wonder foam is the perfect primer for long-lasting, frizz-free, extreme volume styles.". This was something I was very keen on trying. I have a natural curl to my hair and I tend to style my hair whilst it's damp with mouse. I pump a few pumps into the palm of my hand and work it through my hair starting at the roots, leaving my hair to dry naturally. Leaving a great amount of volume in my hair for the day!
Intensive Deep Repair Mask - "Deep nourishing treatment helps restore moisture and elasticity leaving hair feeling silky, smooth and manageable." I tend to treat my hair with conditioning masks either every other wash or a couple of times a week depending on what treatment I use. I massage a scoop of this one into the ends of my hair - especially the bleached parts! It leaves my hair feeling so soft and nourished with moisture!
Blinding Shine Serum - "A shine serum for smoothing straight or curly hair, The lightweight formula provides fantastic shine and frizz free results." Hair serum is something that I definitely couldn't live without! If I happen to go somewhere and I forgot to pack it with me, it's the first thing i'll purchase to maintain my thick locks! This serums consistency is thicker than I had anticipated but makes my hair feel so silky on the ends! Where it is pretty thick, i'd recommend steering clear from your roots, or perhaps if you have finer hair maybe use this product sparingly so the product doesn't build up on the hair!
If you haven't tried OSMO products before, I really recommend you do! I'm so impressed with all the products I've managed to try on my hair so far, it's all reasonably priced too!
If you haven't ordered through FeelUnique before.
I'm not going to lie, it felt like I had blinked and April had flown right past me! I thought i'd let you know of the things I had been loving throughout April.
From left to right: Prague, Milan, Stockholm, Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam.
I need more of these badboys! I came across this particular Nyx Cosmetics product when one of my colleagues happened to be wearing Abu Dhabi - I loved it! This resulted in me purchasing a few of my own. The application is so velvety smooth and dries to a matt consistency on the lips! It's long lasting too yet simple enough to remove with makeup cleansers. Did I say I need more of these?
I don't know what it is, I find myself playing this song quite a bit at the moment! It wouldn't surprise me if it's because it's been frequently played on the radio. I can't decide if i prefer the original version or just the instrumental? It's pretty relaxing to listen to!
The Shinning Moment is the shimmering gold & The Love Affair is the dusty pink shade.
I'm so obsessed with this highlighter right now from Bareminerals - its the "bareMinerals READY® Luminizer Duo" in the duo shades of The Shinning Moment and The Love Affair. I was introduced to this product (like many of the other bareminerals products that I now own) by my boyfriends lovely mumma! You can use these shimmery colours separately or blend them together for a beautiful warm pinky-toned glow. It's perfect for day time wear and also if you build it up, it's perfect for evenings and stands out in photos for sure!
Getting back to reading via the Amazon Kindle app.
I certainly go through phases of reading. I wish I was one of those people that has a mission to read every book under the sun. When I am in the reading mood, I jump straight to the Amazon Kindle app (which you and get on Android and IOS app stores) This app is so ideal, I used to love the idea of owning an actual Amazon Kindle, having that device as well as a tablet, iPod touch and smart phone seemed a little excessive to me.
Right now I can't put down 'The Girl On The Train' - if you haven't heard of this WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I'm only kidding! Jump on the book bandwagon soon - I know there's a movie on the horizon! I wont post any spoilers of the book that I've read so far, but give it a read for sure!
Finally, I can't get enough of this product. If you've been on my blog before, you'll know how much I have been loving this product. Recently i've had my hair bleached to have an ombre effect, so restoring it's health and softness is key! This mask by OSMO is designed to do just that, plus(!) keeping the tone of your hair correct to avoid those awful brassy tones. I purchase OSMO products through FeelUnique.
Well there's a small mixture of products I've been loving throughout April. What have you been loving? Let me know in the comments!

1. This was a sneaky little snap from a date night I had with my boyfriend recently. It would have been rude to not have a cocktail or two when it's 'happy hour' eh? My boyfriend ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and I had a classic Mojito (mmmmm!). This evening was just what I needed recently. I had been pretty poorly and my boyfriend has been knuckling down with uni work and interviews - so we didn't really get to see each other! ♥
2. I've recently become pretty obsessed with the song Faded by Alan Walker, i'd probably call it a current favourite. Click here to hear it! My only issue right now is that I can't decide which version I prefer! The original (which is what will play to you in the link I've provided) or the instrumental version.
3. Isn't Snapchat whipping out the summery filters recently! I liked this filter for what it did for my skin and eyes, If you happen to see my actual upload of this image, you see that I wish it didn't have the floral crown, But hey it's a cute filter, and it really showed off the ombre in my hair right now.
4. So there's this product I purchased a little while back, I love it so much - I have a competition on the blog right now that ends May 21st at 11:59pm. Click here to read the review and see how you can enter the competition!
5. It's recently dawned on me how many lipsticks I purchase in comparison to the rate that I actually wear them. I've had a sort out through all of them and i'm going to try and make it my mission to wear a lipstick/lip gloss everyday that I wear makeup. Let's see how long that lasts ;)
6. "You are enough and you're going to do amazing things. You have a smile that can change the world. You can do more than you think. You are more than you think." It's a shame this quote wasn't given credit to whoever said it. It's images like this that I stumble across on Instagram that really do lift my mood and keep me focused on keeping happy and positive.
7 & 8. One of my best friends got married this month! I was fortunate to be a bridesmaid too. Such a lovely day and evening! The bride looked stunning and the atmosphere was great! I managed to have a photo with my boyfriend too! We scrub up well eh!
9. This is an old photo of my doggies. it's currently my phones wallpaper!

I always like to think 'a new month - a fresh start' when it comes to things like eating healthier and exercising. Admittedly, the thought of putting myself on a strict diet absolutely bores me. I love food, 'nuff said. As a disclaimer, I didn't come up with the challenge concept, it's all over the internet! I just typed and tweaked a version inspired by what I had seen online.
I know that if you completely cut something out of your lifestyle, there's a good chance that when you next come into contact with it, there's a higher possibility that you'll over eat it. Leading to regret, then followed by a new found lack of motivation to get back on track. So in place of this challenge for the month of May, i'm allowing myself a 'cheat day' if needed once a week!
I'd like to think taking part in this challenge with added regular exercise at the gym would actually help my body goals! I'm not necessarily focused on losing weight, but toning up and generally becoming a fitter and more active person.
So starting from May 1st i'm going to be taking part in this challenge - welcoming anyone that wants to join and take part alongside me! If you're doing this challenge some time soon, invite your friends to take part - you'll find it'll inspire you to stay focused and motivated!
